UPDATING THE REMNANT'S WEB SITE

This also cometh forth from the LORD of hosts, which is wonderful in counsel, and excellent in working (Isaiah 28.29).

When we began this Web site well over a year ago, we wanted to provide a clear voice on the World Wide Web that would clearly set forth the doctrine of the Absolute Predestination of all things. In answer to that desire, an opportunity that we could not ignore was providentially thrust upon us, and The Remnant's Web site was born. We published a number of articles written by Elders Bartley, Beebe, Lackey, Poole, and myself that maintain our position as it had been upheld by The Remnant, our periodical, since Elders James F. Poole and Robert N. Lackey launched it in the spring of 1987.

Since this Web site was introduced, little has been done in the way of modifying or adding to it. Now, after a long delay, we at The Remnant are thoroughly updating our Web site.

Improvements have been a long time in coming, certainly longer than we would have liked; but as far as man's plans and wishes go, some things cannot be helped. In the economy of God's grace, however, nothing can be helped or hindered; all moves on His timetable, not ours.

Although Isaiah's text above addressed a specific event, we believe it can be applied to any event that ever happens. In this case, we are confident that the Lord has had His reason for The Remnant's Web site lying rather fallow for over a year. We do not pretend to understand His sometime strange (to us) providences. Understanding them, however, and questioning them are two entirely different things. We dare not question His wisdom or His will as it unfolds in our lives.

Absolute Predestination, As Ever

As you read through our web site and our magazine, you will see that, as plainly as we are given to know how, we unashamedly declare the biblical doctrine of The Absolute Predestination of all things.

Some may think we are only riding a "hobby horse," finding predestination in everything. We have faced this accusation more than once. This precious doctrine is far more than some idle preoccupation on our part. Predestination is a rich doctrine of practical faith. We believe we have seen the Lord's predestinated providence at work in our lives innumerable times protecting our steps, providing providential safety, spiritual guidance, and directing our thoughts, words, and actions even as He did in biblical times. Our successes and our strengths, if we have any, are predestinated no less than our failures, our limitations, and our weaknesses. Nor is this "blaming God" for our slackness, sin, and failures. In all things we are weak and completely dependent on Him.

There Are No Accidents

It is no accident that you are reading this page at this very second. There is unspeakable comfort in knowing that nothing in this universe could have prevented you from fulfilling God's eternal decree, existing in His mind and purpose from all eternity, to be doing exactly what you are doing at this time. The Psalmist said, "My times are in Thy hand (Psalm 31.15)." Is it not comforting to realize you could not "die before your time," since God definitely declared from eternity that you would now be reading these words? "Remember the former things of old: for I am God, and there is none else; I am God, and there is none like me, declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times the things that are not yet done, saying, My counsel shall stand, and I will do all my pleasure (Isaiah 46.9-10)."

Editorial Page Added

One addition we are making in The Remnant's Web site is this editorial page, where, if the Lord wills, we will have regularly updated comments on biblical topics and related issues.

Predestinarian Web Sites?

One of the holdups in updating The Remnant's Web site has been our desire to complete our Links page. Web sites such as ours are almost nonexistent. There are Web sites which advocate the doctrine of Absolute Predestination but are not Old School or Primitive Baptist. There are other Web sites-galore!-that claim to be "Primitive Baptist" but are not Absolute Predestinarian in doctrine. There are precious few Web sites besides ours which are both Absolute Predestinarian and Primitive Baptist. Check our Principles page, and compare them with the sites you find by searching the Web for "Primitive Baptist," and you will see what we mean.

If you maintain a Web site that is compatible with our Principles, or know of such a site, please let us know. If it can be arranged, we'd be happy to provide a link to other sites that are of like precious faith.

New Articles to be Added Soon

In the near future, and periodically after that, if the Lord so wills, we hope to make previously printed articles from our magazine, The Remnant, as well as many other articles and reprints from other sources, available at this site. Together with regularly updated editorial comments, it is our desire to furnish worthwhile and spiritually edifying reading material to believers and seekers of the truths of God's sovereign grace. We invite you to visit our site regularly and to send us your comments.
